PortraitDr Philip de Souza FRHistS studied History and Classics at Royal Holloway College, London. He is the author of numerous articles and essays on Greek and Roman history, a contributor to the forthcoming Cambridge History of Greek and Roman Warfare, and is currently finishing a book on Ancient Naval Warfare, to be published by Routledge. He is Lecturer in Classics at University College Dublin. Waldemar Heckel is Professor of Ancient History at the University of Calgary. He has written numerous articles on the history of Alexander the Great, and his latest publication is 'Livy: The Dawn of the Roman Empire' for Oxford World's Classics (2000).
