Kant's Transcendental Theory of Freedom; 226 p. (Text in German) Using Kant's major writings, the investigations in this work reconstruct the concept of transcendental freedom, which is integral to Kant's work. Here the author examines problems whose inadequate penetration by interpreters of Kant's work have repeatedly led to grave misunderstandings and to the attribution of purported contradictions to Kant's theory of freedom. As a result of this new analysis, a more complex but consistent and convincing account of transcendental freedom emerges. It is relevant, far beyond the work of Kant to an adequate understanding of practical reason and as a condition for the possibility of an ethics, which does not purport to be simply a pragmatics.
